Solar Panels in West Palm Beach, FL: 2026 Cost, Florida Power & Light Net Metering & Savings
Short answer
West Palm Beach is served mainly by Florida Power & Light (FPL). The 2025 EIA residential average for Florida was $0.152 per kWh. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 5.2 peak sun hours a day. Neither number is your tariff or a roof study. Statewide context is on the Florida solar page.
West Palm Beach and the bill
Florida Power & Light serves West Palm Beach and most of the county. A few municipal pockets exist in Florida, but this city's bills are overwhelmingly FPL. The city and the county are different permit authorities. West Palm Beach pairs a South Florida sun resource with a housing market that jumps from older coastal blocks to huge inland subdivisions toward Wellington and Royal Palm Beach. Those inland roofs are often simpler. Coastal roofs are often more shaded, more complex, and more expensive to insure. The same FPL rider can sit on both, and the construction cost will not. The 2025 EIA residential average for Florida was 15.21 cents per kWh. That statewide figure is what our calculator uses. It is not the Florida Power & Light tariff. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 5.2 peak sun hours a day.
Export credits and any SREC or REC
Florida Power & Light serves West Palm Beach, and Florida does not have one export credit for the state. Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy Florida, Tampa Electric, and municipal utilities such as OUC, JEA, Lakeland Electric, and the City of Tallahassee each publish their own rider. A neighboring city can be a different company. There is no Florida SREC price to put next to the bill. The proposal has to name the rider. Wind design follows the Florida Building Code and is stricter on exposed coasts than inland. An array is not a storm shelter and it is not an insurance promise.
Roofs, climate, permits, and HOAs
Single-family asphalt and tile both appear. Townhouse and zero-lot-line roofs may not have enough unshaded plane for a meaningful array. Look at the south and west planes first if the rate is time-sensitive. Many local rates are not, but the planes still determine size. A West Palm Beach permit comes from the local building department, not from Florida Power & Light. An HOA can add its own review. This page does not quote a FL permit fee or an approval, because both depend on the address. Ask which permit office, city or county, applies to the address. Ask for FPL's current documents rather than a 2021 screenshot. If the roof faces a tall ficus hedge, assume shade until a measurement says otherwise.
Estimated cost range
Estimated cost range for West Palm Beach, labeled as an estimate and not a local quote: Berkeley Lab's August 2026 update put 2025 host-owned residential systems at about $3.60 per watt before incentives, about $3.00 per watt in the cash subset, and about $4.50 per watt in the loan subset. The median size in that set was 7.7 kW. West Palm Beach is about 5.2 peak sun hours a day, against about 5.2 statewide. The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.

West Palm Beach questions
Is the resource closer to Miami or Orlando?
Closer to Miami. We use about 5.2 peak sun hours, a rounded coastal South Florida figure.
Do Palm Beach condos follow the same rules as houses?
No. Roof control usually sits with the association. A single owner often cannot contract for the roof.
What export rule should a West Palm Beach proposal name?
Name Florida Power & Light and the current rider or retail plan. Florida does not have one price that replaces the document on your bill. This page does not decide eligibility.
Is the West Palm Beach cost range a quote?
No. It applies Berkeley Lab's 2025 national medians, about $3.00, $3.60, and $4.50 per watt depending on the cash or loan subset, to illustrate a range. Your roof, the main panel, and the local permit can move it.
Does the federal tax credit apply to a new West Palm Beach system in 2026?
The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.
