How to read Delaware
Delaware's 2025 EIA residential average was 17.15 cents per kWh. Delmarva Power serves most of the state. The resource is about 4.3 peak sun hours in our statewide table, a bit higher toward the beaches. The state is small enough that Wilmington, Newark, and Dover still differ by roof and by permit office.
Utilities
Delmarva Power is the investor-owned utility for the large majority of Delaware addresses. Municipal utilities serve some towns. A Maryland ZIP across the line can be Delmarva, BGE, or a cooperative. Do not cross the state line with the same incentive sheet.
Export credits and tariffs
Delaware has offered net metering for eligible customer-generators and has run solar renewable energy credit procurement through state programs associated with DNREC. Procurement prices and grant windows change. A closed round is not a current offer. We do not promise a credit payment or a grant. Check the current DNREC notice and the Delmarva tariff before a bid treats either as income. Sources: Delaware Public Service Commission and DNREC.
Climate and roofs
Coastal Sussex County sees more wind and salt than Newark. Snow is moderate and short-lived on a pitched roof. Humidity and summer cooling are the load. Tree cover in older New Castle County neighborhoods is the shade issue.
Cities
- Wilmington
Delmarva Power in the state's largest city, with rowhouses and detached county roofs.
- Newark
Northern Delaware on Delmarva, and a different Newark from New Jersey.
- Dover
The capital, Delmarva Power, slightly more open than the Wilmington canopy.
- Middletown
A fast-growing Delmarva suburb between Wilmington and Dover.
- Georgetown
Sussex County, Delmarva, a bit more sun and more coastal weather than Newark.
Delaware questions
Is Delmarva the whole state?
It is the default for most addresses. Some towns have municipal electric service. Read the bill.
Are Delaware credits guaranteed?
No. Procurement programs and net metering have rules and calendars. This site does not decide eligibility.
American Solar Savings researches these numbers and can help you compare installers in our network. We do not install the system.

I also want to recognize Tore Grasso for his incredible knowledge, professionalism, and patience. He answered every question I had thoroughly and never made me feel rushed or pressured. It's clear he genuinely cares about educating customers and helping them make informed decisions. It's rare to find a company that combines excellent customer service with such a knowledgeable team. I'd like to thank Scott Schwarz for taking the time to share Spartan X's personalized residential solar plan with my family and I last week. We were interested in learning more about the opportunity and he did a terrific job of explaining all the details. I really respect and appreciate Scott's courteous down to earth approach. He never made us feel pressured to make a decision right then and there. He was knowledgeable and very willing to listen to, and answer, questions. He's definitely a great Spartan X representative. Thanks again, Scott.
