Maryland
Solar Panels in Annapolis, MD: 2026 Cost, BGE Net Metering & Savings
Short answer
Annapolis is served mainly by Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE). The 2025 EIA residential average for Maryland was $0.195 per kWh. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 4.5 peak sun hours a day. Neither number is your tariff or a roof study. Statewide context is on the Maryland solar page.
Annapolis and the bill
Annapolis is typically BGE. Historic-district review is a city issue, not a utility issue. Annapolis adds water and a historic core to a BGE bill. Downtown roofs may be small or regulated. Parole and the western suburbs are closer to a normal Maryland subdivision project. The resource is ordinary Chesapeake sun. Storm wind is a design input, not a reason to copy a Gulf Coast hardware list without looking. The 2025 EIA residential average for Maryland was 19.53 cents per kWh. That statewide figure is what our calculator uses. It is not the BGE tariff. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 4.5 peak sun hours a day.
Export credits and any SREC or REC
Annapolis follows Maryland's net-metering statute, then the rider of BGE. House Bill 1532 keeps the current program open only until a successor begins. The Public Service Commission notice says that successor framework is due by February 1, 2027 and the new program begins July 1, 2027, so current net metering closes to new customers by that date at the latest, and a capacity cap can close it sooner. Eligible systems placed in service from July 1, 2024 through January 1, 2028 can apply for Brighter Tomorrow certified SRECs, which count at 1.5 times for a supplier's compliance. On November 4, 2026, Flett Exchange showed a $58.50 sell-now quote for the 2025 and 2026 certified vintages. That quote moves, certification has megawatt caps and a PSC fee, and it is not income you are owed.
Roofs, climate, permits, and HOAs
Historic houses, colonials, and newer subdivisions all appear. Shade from hardwoods is common off the historic grid. Waterfront lots can be more exposed. A Annapolis permit comes from the local building department, not from BGE. An HOA can add its own review. This page does not quote a MD permit fee or an approval, because both depend on the address. Ask whether the address is in a historic review area before paying for design. Use BGE's rider. Do not treat a credit price as locked.
Estimated cost range
Estimated cost range for Annapolis, labeled as an estimate and not a local quote: Berkeley Lab's August 2026 update put 2025 host-owned residential systems at about $3.60 per watt before incentives, about $3.00 per watt in the cash subset, and about $4.50 per watt in the loan subset. The median size in that set was 7.7 kW. Annapolis is about 4.5 peak sun hours a day, against about 4.3 statewide. The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.

Annapolis questions
Same utility as Baltimore?
Usually BGE. Confirm on the bill.
Do historic rules block every roof?
No. They can limit placement downtown. Suburban Annapolis is a different review.
What export rule should a Annapolis proposal name?
Name BGE and the current rider or retail plan. Maryland does not have one price that replaces the document on your bill. This page does not decide eligibility.
Is the Annapolis cost range a quote?
No. It applies Berkeley Lab's 2025 national medians, about $3.00, $3.60, and $4.50 per watt depending on the cash or loan subset, to illustrate a range. Your roof, the main panel, and the local permit can move it.
Does the federal tax credit apply to a new Annapolis system in 2026?
The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.

I'd like to thank Scott Schwarz for taking the time to share Spartan X's personalized residential solar plan with my family and I last week. We were interested in learning more about the opportunity and he did a terrific job of explaining all the details. I really respect and appreciate Scott's courteous down to earth approach. He never made us feel pressured to make a decision right then and there. He was knowledgeable and very willing to listen to, and answer, questions. He's definitely a great Spartan X representative. Thanks again, Scott.
