How much do solar panels cost in Maryland?
American Solar Savings Editors · Published 2026-10-22 · Updated 2026-11-04
Maryland prices start from the same national median as everywhere else and then meet a local roof. Berkeley Lab's August 2026 update reported about $3.60 per watt for host-owned residential systems installed in 2025, before incentives. Cash was about $3.00 and loans about $4.50 in the subset they could classify. A Baltimore rowhouse and a Columbia colonial are not the same labor.
The utilities change the paperwork
BGE, Pepco, Potomac Edison, and Delmarva Power do not share one rider. Baltimore, Rockville, and Frederick are three companies. Interconnection and any export credit have to name the company on the bill.
SRECs are a market
Maryland has an in-state solar renewable energy credit market. The compliance schedule and the price a homeowner is actually paid are different numbers, and both move. House Bill 1532 set a successor path for export compensation. None of that is a discount this website subtracts. If a proposal needs the credit to look cheap, ask for the contract. The SREC guide says the same thing for several states.
The 2025 EIA residential average was 19.53 cents per kWh. Our estimate uses that average and does not subtract a credit. Roof age and who owns the roof still decide more bids than the state average does.
