Delaware
Solar Panels in Georgetown, DE: 2026 Cost, Delmarva Power Net Metering & Savings
Short answer
Georgetown is served mainly by Delmarva Power. The 2025 EIA residential average for Delaware was $0.172 per kWh. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 4.6 peak sun hours a day. Neither number is your tariff or a roof study. Statewide context is on the Delaware solar page.
Georgetown and the bill
Georgetown is Delmarva for typical addresses. Beach towns farther east can be the same utility and a different wind exposure. Georgetown is inland Sussex, not the boardwalk. The resource is slightly higher than Wilmington's in our table. Storms and salt are more relevant than in Newark and less than on the immediate coast. Poultry-region lots can be open and unshaded. Delmarva's tariff still governs exports. The 2025 EIA residential average for Delaware was 17.15 cents per kWh. That statewide figure is what our calculator uses. It is not the Delmarva Power tariff. A rounded solar resource for this metro is about 4.6 peak sun hours a day.
Export credits and any SREC or REC
Delmarva Power is the investor-owned utility for Georgetown. Delaware's export credit is Delmarva's tariff, filed with the Public Service Commission, not a Maryland or Pennsylvania rider copied across the line. Delaware-sited solar credits can be sold, and the price moves, so it is not printed here. A proposal that adds a credit payment should show the contract. Municipal or campus accounts, where they exist, are outside that Delmarva description.
Roofs, climate, permits, and HOAs
Single-story houses and newer inland subdivisions. Some roofs are simple. Mobile homes are a poor structural candidate unless the owner and the utility both treat them as eligible, which many do not. A Georgetown permit comes from the local building department, not from Delmarva Power. An HOA can add its own review. This page does not quote a DE permit fee or an approval, because both depend on the address. Say whether the house is inland Georgetown or a beach address. The wind design changes. Name Delmarva. Ask before treating a seasonal house's summer production as self-consumed.
Estimated cost range
Estimated cost range for Georgetown, labeled as an estimate and not a local quote: Berkeley Lab's August 2026 update put 2025 host-owned residential systems at about $3.60 per watt before incentives, about $3.00 per watt in the cash subset, and about $4.50 per watt in the loan subset. The median size in that set was 7.7 kW. Georgetown is about 4.6 peak sun hours a day, against about 4.3 statewide. The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.

Georgetown questions
Who serves Georgetown?
Delmarva Power for typical addresses.
Same exposure as Rehoboth?
No. Inland Sussex is less exposed than the beach. Design for the address you have.
What export rule should a Georgetown proposal name?
Name Delmarva Power and the current rider or retail plan. Delaware does not have one price that replaces the document on your bill. This page does not decide eligibility.
Is the Georgetown cost range a quote?
No. It applies Berkeley Lab's 2025 national medians, about $3.00, $3.60, and $4.50 per watt depending on the cash or loan subset, to illustrate a range. Your roof, the main panel, and the local permit can move it.
Does the federal tax credit apply to a new Georgetown system in 2026?
The federal residential credit under 26 U.S.C. § 25D ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats that expenditure as made when the original installation is completed.
